While on a European book tour for The Third Secret, Steve visited the abbey at Belem, outside of Lisbon, Portugal, and thought it would make a great locale for a future book.  A year later, while writing The Alexandria Link, he decided that would be the book, so he returned to Portugal and spent four days in the abbey developing all of the scenes that ultimately appeared in the novel.  The Alexandria Link  was one of his toughest to plot.  Stumped, the final ideas came in a Washington, D.C. hotel room.  Excited, Steve awoke his wife, Elizabeth.  She listened, nodded once, then went back to sleep.  The Alexandria Link debuted at #2 on The New York Times bestseller list.  Combined, the hardcover and paperback spent 11 weeks on the lists.  At present, the book is published in 38 countries around the world, with over 1,500,000 books in print.
