A Romanov prophecy

The original title of the book was The Fourth Rome, which makes sense once the story is read.  Unfortunately, that title does not work for marketing a thriller about Russia.  Mark Tavani, Steve's editor, asked for a change and Steve's agent, Pam Ahearn, came up with the The Romanov Prophecy, which works perfectly.  Steve learned from that experience, and all of his subsequent books were titled with that lesson in mind.  Miles Lord is one of Steve's favorite protagonists and he says that, one day, Miles will return.  The Romanov Prophecy also allowed Steve to incorporate another of his favorite locales—the mountains of western North Carolina—which also make an appearance in Steve's later novel, The Charlemagne Pursuit.  With nearly 1,500,000 books in print, The Romanov Prophecy is published in 36 countries around the world.
