The Jefferson Key debuted at #4 on the New York Times bestseller list. Thanks to all of you for making it possible. I appreciate your support. After debuting at #4, it has continued to stay on the list, and is currently in Week 3 at the #5 spot. Keep telling your friends about the book and let’s see how long we can stay there.
Steve recently wrote a feature article for SHOTS Crime and Thriller Ezine about The Emperor’s Tomb. It is a great read, and expounds on several key points of the book.
How’s this for timing. The 3,000 pound anchor from Blackbeard’s ship, Queen Anne’s Revenge was recovered this week. It had rested on the bottom of Beaufort Inlet, east of Bath, North Carolina, since 1718. Blackbeard makes an appearance in The Jefferson Key, as does his ship. Pretty cool to see this relic after that time.

Steve kicked-off the 2011 tour for The Jefferson Key on May 18 in Wilson, North Carolina. About 100 people turned out for the event at the Barton College campus library. The next event was at Barnes & Noble in Greenville, North Carolina, and he gave out the first roll of Jefferson Gold Dollars to a fan from Greenville, South Carolina. At a standing room-only crowd at Quail Ridge books in Raleigh, a law student from South Carolina drove 5 hours to see Steve and won the roll of Jefferson dollars. From there, he moved on to Houston, Texas, on Sunday for an event at Murder By The Book. Another standing room only crowd of over 100 fans brought their books to be signed, including several who brought their entire collection for a personalized signature. The winner of the Jefferson dollars was Paulette Hatfield from Palm Coast, Florida. She drove 15 hours to have her books signed. Now that’s a true Malone’s Clones fan. Thanks Paulette. On Monday, Steve started in Portland, Oregon, with a luncheon for the Historic Preservation League of Oregon where they announced the 10 Most Endangered Sites in Oregon. That evening he enjoyed the book signing at Powell’s Books in Beaverton, Oregon, with a crowd that asked a lot of questions. The winner of the Gold Jefferson Dollars came from two hours away. Tuesday Steve was in Salem, Oregon, for a Luncheon to benefit the Friends Of The Jefferson Library, where he spoke and took questions for an hour. There was another standing room only crowd of over 100 on Wednesday in Phoenix at the Poisoned Pen bookstore, where the winner of the Jefferson Dollars drove over 2 hours each way to see Steve. He wrapped up the tour on Thursday in Evergreen Park, Illinois, where ten libraries partnered to present an event. Even though it was a cold evening, there was standing room only at the Evergreen Park library, with about 100 fans listening and asking questions for an hour before having their books signed. Thanks to all the fans that stopped by at the different events. Steve and Elizabeth enjoyed getting to meet and visit with all of you. Although this wraps up the “On The Road Tour,” Steve will be appearing in Southeast Georgia and Northeast Florida on June 1, June 6, and June 11.
